No. 32 - Preseason Potluck

With the preseason puck dropped, Elan and Brian take on a smattering of topics, beginning with the ways in which recent signings and injuries might directly and indirectly affect NHL lineups and, in turn, your fantasy team.

Brian also humbly clarifies some commentary and advice from last week's Smörgoåliesbord, elaborating on even-strength save percentage and Carey Price's fantasy value, and putting a spotlight on Pekka Rinne and Jimmy Howard.

We also get to a few of the fun listener questions we've been getting this pre-season, explaining how to handle PIMs as a category in your league, debating the merits of drafting defensemen early vs. late, and making a decision between young guns like Ondrej Palat and Tomas Hertl. Elan and Brian cap off the show by each sharing a player that they think might be undervalued in your fantasy draft.

No. 31 - Smörgoåliesbord 2014

If you've noticed a conspicuous absence of goalie talk on the last few shows, it's because we saved it all for this episode: it's the Keeping Karlsson Smörgoåliesbord 2014! In the 5th episode of our fantasy preseason miniseries, Elan and Brian talk about nothing except the crucial G spot that can make or break your fantasy hockey team

This episode features a quick rundown of the stats that best reflect a goalie's ability, and throw out a couple newer advanced stats that can help you make your draft-day and keeper decisions. From there, we share our goalie tiers, from elite goalies, goalies you should avoid at all costs, and all the ones in between.

No. 30 - Sure Shots and Probably Nots

As the offseason draws to a close, Keeping Karlsson's fantasy pre-season miniseries rolls on with a primer on the newest players to have joined our list of sure shot, keeper-justified, first round draft pick-worthy fantasy producers

We also take a look at a couple skaters who've lost this hallowed status as a result of their fantasy performances last year, and who you might want to consider taking a round or three later than usual in your draft this year.

Brian and Elan also search for clues on the players who surprised us last year in ways both good and bad, and then dig in to figure out whether their numbers will improve, regress, or stay the same through another full season

No. 29 - How to Draft Well

In part three of our fantasy pre-season miniseries, we get obsessive about how to make the most of the biggest event of your fantasy year: draft day. Elan and Brian share the big and little drafting strategies they use to build the best roster possible, including tiering your picks, thinking about playing positions, when to take sleepers, making close calls, and more.

We also answer listener questions about ranking prospects, NHL equivalency numbers, and connecting Corsi and shot-blocking.
