No. 223 - Everybody Must Get Stone

Trade deadline-- more like trade aliveline, am I right??

Welcome to the 2019 NHL Trade Deadline edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, where Elan is joined by guest co-host and Dobber Prospects content editor Peter Harling to break down the impacts of all the deals made from a fantasy perspective. While Elan speculates on the lineup ripples, Peter helps answer "who the heck is this guy" questions about the prospects involved in today's action.

As usual, we remember that the trade deadline isn't the be all/end all, as the guys take a trip through the latest injuries, outjuries, line changes, hot streaks and cold streaks to find the contenders to be excited about and pretenders to avoid as you fine-tune your lineups for the fantasy playoffs.

No. 222 - Kuch Coma

Good morning-- and if we don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night! Rather than their usual Sunday evening schedule, Elan and Brian go straight from their morning coffee to breaking down the biggest fantasy news and impacts of the week on this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, which results in at least one take that has aged very poorly in the 12 hours between recording and releasing this episode.

Our first take of the show, however, is evergreen, as we look at a Shark swimming towards point-per-game status and some of the supporting cast he's working with. We also argue about whether a contract can ever be considered good even when all signs pointed to it being bad at the moment it was signed. We then talk about broken thumb recovery times, a pair of pretty boring trades unlikely to have a whole lot of fantasy impact, some Devils doing uncharacteristic things, some Avalanche players playing out some uncharacteristically cold strings, the newest lucky guy to be playing with the league's best scorer, a rising figure on the Philadelphia blueline, a surprising closeness between the value of two Hurricanes forwards, and a whole lot more.

Players discussed on this episode include Erik Karlsson, Kevin Labanc, Joe Thornton, Joonas Donskoi, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Evander Kane, David Pastrnak, Danton Heinen, Jake DeBrusk, Tuukka Rask, Jaroslav Halak, Kevin Boyle, Ryan Miller, Justin Schultz, Patric Hornqvist, Nico Hischier, Marcus Johansson, Jesper Bratt, Kyle Palmieri, Cory Schneider, Devan Dubnyk, Corey Crawford, Collin Delia, Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, Cam Talbot, Anthony Stolarz, Brian Elliott, Mikko Koskinen, Carter Hart, Ryan Spooner, Sam Gagner, Oscar Klefbom, Darnell Nurse, Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog, Tyson Barrie, Nikita Kucherov, Yanni Gourde, Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat, J.T. Miller, Brandon Pirri, Alex Tuch, Max Pacioretty, Shea Theodore, Colin Miller, Nate Schmidt, David Rittich, Mike Smith, Matthew Tkachuk, Elias Lindholm, Alexandar Georgiev, Travis Sanheim, Devon Toews, Anders Lee, Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, Nino Niederreiter, Tyler Myers, Reilly Smith, Ryan Murray, Alex Galchenyuk, Jordan Oesterle, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Clayton Keller more.

No. 221 - When You Be Leivo

So many third wheels, you'd think we're talking tricycles on this brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.

First, Elan and Brian take a look at whether a coaching change Anaheim actually brings either coaching or a change to the fortunes of struggling Ducks who've lost their quack.

Then, they sift through the latest news, injuries, outjuries, streaks and slumps in the NHL, highlighting the most important and integral info for the success of your fantasy hockey team. Specifically, the guys produce a laundry list of third wheels-- otherwise unremarkable players who are playing alongside two bona-fide scoring stars-- and rank them in order of desirability for this week and beyond.

Elan deploys his weekly team ranking request on the hot-again Montreal forward group, and he also continues to performatively fight the cognitive dissonance caused by Josh Bailey production. Also, we consider the Western Conference playoff picture, what John Tortorella might enjoy dreaming about, Patrik Laine's next contract, the crease sadness in Edmonton and New Jersey, the legitimacy of Canadiens dynasties, and drafting differences over the last two decades.

Players discussed on this episode include Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Rickard Rakell, John Gibson, Oscar Klefbom, Darnell Nurse, Alex Chiasson, Cam Talbot, Mikko Koskinen, Drake Caggiula, Brent Seabrook, Patrick Kane, Cory Schneider, Keith Kinkaid, Kyle Palmieri, Blake Coleman, Nico Hischier, Andrew Shaw, Jonathan Drouin, Phil Danault, Brendan Gallagher, Max Domi, Tomas Tatar, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Kyle Turris, Alex Edler, Ben Hutton, Troy Stecher, Josh Leivo, Eric Staal, Nick Bjugstad, Bryan Rust, Jared McCann, Danton Heinen, David Pastrnak, Jaroslav Halak, Tuukka Rask, Michael Dal Colle, Anthony Beauvillier, Josh Bailey, Brock Nelson, Ryan Pulock, Jason Pominville, Sam Reinhart, Seth Jones, Nick Foligno, Boone Jenner, Josh Anderson, Patrik Laine, Jack Roslovic, Anders Nisson, Craig Anderson, Aaron Ekblad, Vincent Trocheck, Brian Boyle, Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, Anze Kopitar, Andreas Johnsson, Zach Hyman, William Nylander and more.

No. 220 - Sundqvist Blip, So Hot, Will Melt Your Popsicle

Which freshly-traded centreman could find themselves in a top six spot with their new team? How much upside could there possibly be for an outjured 33 year old winger showing steady decline? To which god do once-unstoppable scorers in Vegas and Winnipeg need to pray? Are the Flyers really turning it around? Do we need to apologize to anyone who sold high on a Chicago centreman? Who is Oskar Sundqvist?

Elan and Brian mine the data and their guts, and return with their best answers to the above questions and more on the newest episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.

Players discussed on this episode include Nick Bjugstad, Derick Brassard, Jared McCann, Mike Hoffman, Evgeni Malkin, Patric Hornqvist, Dominik Simon, Bryan Rust, Tanner Pearson, Frank Vatrano, Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez, Jake Gardiner,  Corey Perry, John Gibson, Adam Henrique, Jack Roslovic, Patrik Laine, Shayne Gostisbehere, Travis Konecny,  Oskar Lindblom, Reilly Smith, Brandon Pirri, Jonathan Marchessault, Valentin Zykov, Kevin Hayes, Mika Zibanejad, Mats Zuccarello, Dylan Larkin, Gustav Nyquist, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Dylan Strome, Erik Gustafsson, T.J.
